A welcoming entrance
A ramp and a level entry mean a veteran using a walker or a wheelchair comes in through the front door, with everyone else, on their own.
Get involved
Every accessible entrance, elevator, and restroom starts with people who decide that no veteran should be left at the door. Here is how you can be one of them.
Your impact
Support translates directly into a building someone can actually use. A few examples of what accessibility work changes for a veteran.
A ramp and a level entry mean a veteran using a walker or a wheelchair comes in through the front door, with everyone else, on their own.
An elevator or lift reconnects a member to the meetings, meals, and ceremonies held upstairs or below, instead of asking them to wait outside.
An accessible restroom removes a barrier that can quietly keep someone from staying for the whole event, or from coming at all.

Accessibility projects come together when the right people work side by side. We collaborate with the posts and the community organizations closest to each building.
If your American Legion post or VFW hall wants to remove a barrier, we can help you think through the project and plan a path forward. Start by telling us about your building.
Request assistanceWe have a track record of working with local nonprofit partners to make funding go further and to see projects through. If your organization shares this mission, we would like to connect.
Start a conversationSpread the word
Not every gift is money. Telling the veterans, families, and posts in your life that help is available is one of the most valuable things you can do. Share our mission, point a post toward an assistance request, or introduce us to a partner who cares about access.
Gifts support accessibility improvements at American Legion posts and VFW halls, such as entrances and ramps, elevators and lifts, and accessible restrooms, along with the guidance needed to plan them well.
Yes. Posts and halls can start an assistance request and tell us about their building and goals. You can begin on the Request Assistance section of our Contact page.
Our nonprofit and tax status details are being finalized. If tax treatment matters for your gift, please contact us for the current information before you give.
