Ways to Help Build Access

Every accessible entrance, elevator, and restroom starts with people who decide that no veteran should be left at the door. Here is how you can be one of them.

Your impact

What your support makes possible

Support translates directly into a building someone can actually use. A few examples of what accessibility work changes for a veteran.

A welcoming entrance

A ramp and a level entry mean a veteran using a walker or a wheelchair comes in through the front door, with everyone else, on their own.

Every floor within reach

An elevator or lift reconnects a member to the meetings, meals, and ceremonies held upstairs or below, instead of asking them to wait outside.

Dignity in the details

An accessible restroom removes a barrier that can quietly keep someone from staying for the whole event, or from coming at all.

Partner with us

Accessibility projects come together when the right people work side by side. We collaborate with the posts and the community organizations closest to each building.

For posts and halls

If your American Legion post or VFW hall wants to remove a barrier, we can help you think through the project and plan a path forward. Start by telling us about your building.

Request assistance

For local nonprofits

We have a track record of working with local nonprofit partners to make funding go further and to see projects through. If your organization shares this mission, we would like to connect.

Spread the word

Help others find a way in

Not every gift is money. Telling the veterans, families, and posts in your life that help is available is one of the most valuable things you can do. Share our mission, point a post toward an assistance request, or introduce us to a partner who cares about access.
