Ramps and accessible entrances

Projects
We help American Legion posts and VFW halls remove the physical barriers that keep veterans from taking part. Our first major project is complete and in daily use, and it points the way to the work ahead.
The work we support
Every building is different. These are the kinds of improvements our funding and guidance help make possible.
Level, well lit entryways and gentle ramps so the front door works for everyone.
Vertical access that connects every floor, so a staircase is never the reason someone stays home.
Restrooms that accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, so members can stay for the whole event.
Wider doorways, better thresholds, and clear interior routes through the building.
Reserved parking and firm, level paths that make the trip from the car to the door manageable.
Handrails, grab bars, lighting, and other changes that make moving through a building safer.
Looking ahead
Our work began in Ohio, and our vision reaches across the country. We hope to help American Legion posts and VFW halls in more communities open their doors to every veteran who earned a place inside.
We do not list projects, locations, or amounts until they are confirmed. When a new project moves forward, you will find it here.
If your American Legion post or VFW hall has a barrier to remove, we would like to hear from you.

Completed
A multi level layout made parts of the Burton post hard to reach for older veterans and people with physical disabilities. With community fundraising and local partners, the project added an operational elevator along with accessible entrance and restroom improvements. The elevator is in use today.
